Complete Guide to Walt Disney World Character Dining

Every Walt Disney World character meal in one guide: where each is, which characters appear, meals served, park vs. resort, reservations, and toddler tips.

Why character dining is the easiest way to meet characters

A character meal lets your family meet several characters in one seated, air-conditioned block instead of standing in separate meet-and-greet queues across a park. For toddler trips especially, a meal can do most of the character-meeting work while everyone also gets fed.

This guide covers every character meal across Walt Disney World — who you can expect to meet, which meals they appear at, and whether you need a park ticket — with each venue linked from our character experiences directory. Character line-ups, meals, and times are a planning snapshot and change seasonally — always confirm the current experience in the My Disney Experience app or on the official Disney page before you book or visit. Rather not chase the details yourself? .

Walt Disney World currently offers 13 character dining experiences: 6 inside the theme parks and 7 at the resorts (including one at a nearby non-Disney hotel).

Reservations and difficulty

Every character meal here requires an Advance Dining Reservation. Bookings open 60 days ahead, and the most in-demand meals — Cinderella's Royal Table, Topolino's Terrace, and Chef Mickey's among them — routinely fill within minutes of release. Book on your first eligible morning, keep checking for drop-offs closer to your trip, and have a backup meal in mind.

Toddler notes

Buffet and family-style meals tend to work best with young kids because characters come to your table and there is no fixed show to sit still for. Keep the meal earlier in the day when patience is highest, and treat the character visits as the main event rather than the food.

Keep planning

Several of these meals are at resorts worth building a whole stay around — see Disney Resorts with Character Dining. For in-park queues and shows, see Where to Meet Every Character at Walt Disney World.
